WIN helps support the refugees in the Western Hemisphere travel to safety through accessing a lawful pathway to a receiving country.
With partners, WIN supports the most vulnerable children in the Western Hemisphere by providing case management, travel assistance, legal assistance and sponsorship support.
In 2023, the U.S. government alongside host countries created an infrastructure in the Western Hemisphere to provide information and resource hubs for expedited refugee processing through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP). With over 117 million people forcibly displaced worldwide, a refugee is a person who is forced to flee their own country due to conflict or persecution, and seek protection in a new country.
Refugees processed through this infrastructure are also provided approvals and/or referrals to other lawful migration pathways to the United States and other countries.
The “Pathways2Prosperity” or “P2P” initiative focuses on areas in the U.S. where WIN can assist newcomers on a path toward self-sufficiency with a job and a home. This turns into a win, with a new community member contributing to the economy.
The new “Pathways2Prosperity” initiative will support newcomers through:
(1) providing targeted support to the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) affiliates and other community-based organizations for newcomers to get jobs and housing
(2) partnering with organizations to offer resources to asylum seekers arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border who have crossed with CBPOne asylum appointments and do not have established points of contact or family in the U.S.
