Kate Clark is the chief executive officer of the Welcoming Initiative for Newcomers (WIN). WIN is focused on advancing innovative solutions to welcome newcomers – refugees, asylum seekers and migrants – into the U.S. via lawful pathways. Creating win-win solutions is always the goal. WIN was founded on the basis that welcoming newcomers creates a win-win-win (WIN³) scenario for (1) newcomers, (2) their sponsors and (3) the community at large.
In her role as CEO, Clark is focused on advancing WIN’s goals of welcoming refugees, immigrants and people seeking asylum as they enter the U.S. via lawful pathways.
Prior to WIN, Clark served as the senior director of immigration services at Jewish Family Service of San Diego (JFSSD). She managed a team of 200 staff across JFSSD’s immigration legal and respite shelter services. Clark is a founding member of the San Diego Rapid Response Network (SDRRN) and in building the SDRRN Migrant Shelter Services, a national model for reception. During Clark’s tenure, the SDRRN Migrant Shelter Services welcomed more than 250,000 children and adults seeking asylum into the region and coordinated onward travel to reunite them with their loved ones throughout the U.S.
